CO-COUNSELING

Our Firm only accepts cases based on a contingency fee.  However, a contingency fee may be shared between co-counsel. The Indiana Rules of Professional Conduct must be followed, but our Firm can explain the rules upon contact. Precise fee sharing arrangements are usually set on a case by case basis depending upon several factors.

We strive to keep both our clients and referring lawyers fully updated as the case progresses. We welcome questions at any time. We obtain consent from the clients before any settlement is finalized. We provide all settlement details to co-counsel.

Many referring attorneys do not wish to handle cases alone, especially those that are complicated, time-consuming, and expensive. We are used to being lead counsel, although we welcome the input and assistance of co-counsel, especially when the client lives outside Indiana. This allows the referring lawyer to focus on core practice areas while still providing high quality representation to clients.

If a conflict of interest prevents you from accepting representation, the Indiana Rules of Professional Conduct prevent you from taking any portion of the fee. However, our Firm pledges to provide the type of representation that will make the client pleased with your referral. We frequently accept cases referred by insurance claims adjusters and insurance defense counsel.

Sometimes large liens, subrogation claims, or medical balances prevent the case from settling. If the liability insurance carrier would pay its limit, but the client would be left with little or nothing, we can help. Tom Manges has litigated the reduction of claims against liability settlements of all types.
