Hurt By a Governmental, Worker or Entity? You Must Comply with the Indiana Tort Claim Notice Law

Police car lights

When a person in Indiana has a negligence claim for injury or property damage due to the fault of a person working for the government, the law requires a special “notice of tort claim“ to be properly sent within 180 days of the accident. Failure to do this can result in the complete loss of the case. This is over and above the two year time limit to file a lawsuit in court. The law was created to give the governmental entity a chance to investigate the accident.

But this “tort claim notice“ law is a trap for the unwary. Manges Law Firm strongly recommends that a person hire a lawyer familiar with this law soon after any accident that is the fault of a person working for any governmental entity. Otherwise, the right to recover money for this type of case may be lost forever.
